Silver Days
by Sonia Leviton

View in Library Catalog

Silver Days is historical depiction of how the Platt’s family escaped the invasion of the Nazi’s during WWII. They moved to America to begin again and strive for a better life. This dream is not an easy one with extreme poverty, living in a small New York City apartment and they barely have enough money for food. The story follows the life of the lead character Lisa Pratt a middle child teenager who wants the American life she has watched in movies. She has 2 sisters 1 older and 1 younger. Unfortunately, because they are Jewish they are not well liked in their neighborhood. They also face a lot of challenges. Her father’s works very hard and starts a coat making business. His success later allows them the opportunity to move to California where Lisa takes dancing lesson, specifically ballet. She loves to dance!

Where The Crawdads Sing
by Delia Owens

I’m pretty sure I’m the last person on earth to read this book— but I can see why it’s been so popular! Like a mix of Lab Girl and Unsolved Mysteries, Owens’s novel combines ecology with murder in a tale you won’t be able to put down. I think I read the entire thing in just three days.

This is about giving presents but some of them are not right. This is a good book for family reads.

Fair Play
by Eve Rodsky

View in Library Catalog

In Fair Play, Eve Rodsky tries to gamify the division of labor that occurs in each household. The results are a bit hokey, but I did find myself highlighting a few passages to share with my husband and mentioning the title to my sister-in-law. If nothing else, it provides a script to open a a conversation about how you handle chores in your own home.
